Syllabus: MHI210 Introduction to Health Informatics Syllabus – 2016


An overview course that provides the student a broad exposure to the field of Health Informatics. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, health information technology in clinical practice, clinical decision support, interoperability in healthcare, terminology/ontology systems, health information exchange, clinical research informatics, imaging informatics, and legal/ethical issues in health informatics. Additional topics include mobile technology in healthcare (mHealth) and emerging ‘next generation’ health information infrastructure. During the quarter, students will be exposed to the seminal papers in the discipline.
